Data Analyst – Power BI at Qualserv Consulting – Plymouth, UK

Job Description

To support the modernisation of the People Directorate’s services through developing and leading the delivery of a vision for integration, organisation, management and application of the department’s data, including data visualisation, and Business Intelligence (BI) and leveraging value from that data in co-ordination with the department, the Assurance and Service Improvement Manager and managers across Community Connections and Retained Client.

Role outcomes

  • Articulating and delivering vision and strategy for the collection, recording, management and use of all sources of data to support the People Directorate functions and realise value from data (30%)
  • The design and delivery of solutions for the management of and reporting data that are innovative, resilient, user friendly and interactive.
  • Identifying and embedding best practice in data management and analysis (40%)
  • Delivering mentoring and training to staff to realise high value from the wealth of data collected, including enabling staff to input and use data systems in the most effective way. (10%)
  • Supporting wider corporate initiatives around digitalisation and data management. (10%)
  • Lead for the department on engagement with external and internal initiatives around digitalisation and data. (10%)

Key Activities

  • Review of data requirements for the department and working with others to improve and develop more modern solutions for data presentation and insight (30%)
  • Delivery of data management solutions, including for social care delivery and innovative interactive products and Business Intelligence solutions(30%)
  • Supporting the Assurance and Service Improvement Manager on the preparation of data for assessments and the delivery of improvement projects (20%)
  • Training and mentoring of staff to improve the collation and presentation of data through the use of modern tools eg Power BI (10%)
  • Supporting the Directorate’s Performance Management Officer in the development and presentation of key performance management information (10%).
  • Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.

Essential qualifications/knowledge

  • Degree level qualification in Data Science or other relevant subject to data management and innovation.
  • Knowledge of data management and quality assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of legislation and policy related to systems and data management

Desirable qualifications/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Adult’s Services

Essential experience

  • Project management of data management or digital products
  • Identifying effective solutions to service/business problems and to the organisation of complex and extensive data management
  • Collating, analysing, interpreting and graphically presenting data and developing innovating data management systems and products.
  • Training and coaching staff
  • Working with and interpreting data.
  • Establishing and maintaining performance systems.
  • Using systems to collate and present statistical information.
  • Working in a customer focused environment.

Desirable experience

  • Working in any part of health or Adult’s Services, whether employed or as a volunteer.
  • Experience of writing policies and procedures.
  • Experience of supporting data gathering and presentation for formal assessments or reviews of services.
