About the Role

Macphie Ltd is seeking a skilled Quality Control Analyst to join our quality team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive tests and analyses on raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet the highest quality standards. Your keen attention to detail and analytical skills will play a crucial role in identifying any quality issues and recommending corrective actions. You will work closely with production and quality teams to support compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Responsibilities

    • Provide shift cover in the laboratory/production facilities (alternating early, late and night shift on a rotational basis or as agreed) and, as required, provide cover in the Analytical Laboratory.
    • Release of finished goods, raw materials, factored goods that are within specification, as appropriate.
    • Provide shift cover in lab areas during holidays and as agreed.
    • Prevent the use of any faulty measuring equipment that is out-with specification when calibrated.
    • Ensure weight/volume control is within legal requirements.
    • Ensure that all necessary computer transactions/administration are completed efficiently, maintaining complete and accurate up to date records.
    • Assist with the sampling, logging and sending of raw materials/products for external analysis.
    • Assess the suitability of returned goods, goods damaged on site authorise their disposition, following prior consultation with the QC Team Leader/QC Co-ordinator as necessary.
    • To ensure that all measuring, recording equipment used are within effective calibration dates, assisting with internal and external calibration of test and measuring equipment as required.
    • To ensure hygiene standards are maintained in all production areas and that the RTE Facility is inspected and passed before production can commence.
    • In conjunction with production and/or quality management, segregate and/or reprocess cream, sauces and glaze products not meeting quality criteria during the actual packing process.
    • Complete any other reasonable duties as assigned by the QC Team Leader/QC Co-ordinator, treating this work as a priority over work from other areas.
    • To carry out routine hygiene testing as required in consultation with the QC Team leader, recording results accordingly.
    • Work safely at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, practices and legislation.

Requirements

  • Experience in quality control or assurance within the food or manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Experience in production and/or manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Strong understanding of quality control testing methods and equipment is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, ISO) is a plus.
