Risk Analyst at Comtecs Ltd – London, UK

Job Description

Working closely with the senior management team in Risk Oversight Analytics and with visibility across the wider business the Risk Analyst will undertake a range of activities to assist the business in the management of underwritten risk:

  • Review the underwriting risk representation within the risk and exposure management system
  • Validate internal Cat Risk Models and views of risk inc natural catastrophes, casualty, terror, aviation etc as well as new modelling capabilities
  • Undertake Stochastic/Probabilistic Modelling (Monte Carlo Simulation etc) to validate and improve models and feed into other systems
  • Undertake risk oversight reviews of the various business lines as required
  • Communicate findings, from high-level summaries to detailed reports
  • Assist and advise the Risk Oversight function in the development of any additional data analytics and exposure management, feeding into various business areas inc Underwriting and Actuarial/Pricing teams.

The role promises to be varied and offer the right individual exposure across the enterprise function and engagement with management at all levels on a global basis. As such, we are searching for candidates who:

  • Possess a background in risk analysis, statistical analysis, cat risk modelling etc
  • Experience gained within General Insurance, Property, Casualty, Underwriting and/or Capital Risk underwriting
  • Posses strong data analysis skills using a range of techniques and tools inc MS Excel, VBA, SAS, Python and other tools (this is not a Data Science role but an interest here would be useful)
  • Ability to condense complex risk analysis and data into analytical findings and create meaningful, insightful and concise summaries (as well as provide the full detail as required)
  • An appreciation for actuarial/pricing analytics/background in Actuarial type capacities within Insurance environments
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to present to management
