Job Description

The Pension Administration Business was established in 1993. Our core business is the provision of services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes DB, DC, CARE, cash balance – and we will do this as a stand-alone “admin-only” appointment or in conjunction with services provided by other Barnett Waddingham Business Areas.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst to join the team in either of our Guildford, Birmingham, Bristol, Cheltenham, Leeds, Liverpool or Glasgow offices on a hybrid basis.

Responsibilties:

The purpose of this role is to evaluate large scale requirements and business processes, identify viable solutions and then work with the team and Product Owners to assess, develop and implement efficient solutions that deliver the required outcomes. Working within a project environment, the role requires you to prepare and deliver the full range of business analysis documentation using structured methodologies and modelling techniques.

The Senior Business Analyst will be recognised as an expert in business and process analysis and will be able to offer analytical insights that support business development opportunities.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for:

  • Pre-project activities such as supporting the preparation of the business case with impact assessments and cost/benefit analysis, identifying key users, problem sets, markets, competitors and estimating financials
  • Obtaining and clearly documenting complex business and systems requirements (or user stories)
  • Running workshops in support of the business analysis process.
  • Providing direction and support to IT throughout system development
  • Contributing proactively to and facilitating business readiness planning and activities
  • Supporting the development of user training
  • Working across multiple teams and business areas to identify ways to enhance internal business processes.
  • Use a strong working knowledge of key variables and logic to review and create full and complex test scenario plans using the most relevant and efficient tools
  • Work within project budgets and actively engage with the Project Manager to manage concerns
  • Supporting effective team working and encouraging the team
  • Identifying and raising potential material changes or gaps in a process with the project manager or propositional lead.
  • Providing comprehensive data to support the estimating of costs and time potential solutions could offer.
  • Identifying and driving the monitoring of key data measurable before, during and after the project and providing data to evidence benefit realisation results.
  • Obtain approval from the Project Board and any other relevant stakeholders to make material changes to analysis requirements.
  • Keep up to date with changing legislation and industry developments and consider the implications on working practices etc.

  • A relevant degree or Business Analysis qualification, together with appropriate experience for the role.
  • An excellent understanding of Business Analysis concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including technical writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to scrutinize and evaluate detailed, complex requirements/issues and propose innovative, quality solutions.
  • A structured, analytical approach to work and problem solving.
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to proactively prioritise, manage multiple tasks and maintain effectiveness within a rapidly changing environment.
  • The ability to use or quickly adapt to a wide range of common and BW specific software applications
  • An excellent understanding of software and how it can improve the efficiency of business processes along with an understanding of software testing.
  • The ability to map, create and maintain detailed process flows using common software applications.
  • Experience of working in a project team environment
