Job Description

Are you passionate about turning raw data into actionable insights? We’re seeking a skilled Data Analyst to lead data analysis efforts across AHRC, ensuring that our data drives informed decision-making.

By managing and overseeing AHRC’s existing reporting dashboards the role will ensure AHRC’s data reporting requirements are effectively met. The role will also deliver data and analysis solutions across the whole of AHRC, recommending innovative and creative ways to analyse and present information to inform decision making.

Working alongside two other Data Analysts the role will lead on data preparation and workflow management. The role will also be part of a larger data community across UKRI and will receive and provide support to this community. Individual training and development are a key part of the role and you will be encouraged to undertake courses in a direction to support your role within AHRC and your career objectives.

Using AHRC’s current visualisation and analysis tools the role will provide analysis, leading to insights for teams across the organisation. Acting as a data analysis expert the role will help guide colleagues as to what analysis will be most appropriate, including which data visualisations and data sources to use.

Main Outputs & Activities

  • Collaborate with AHRC experts to gather data requirements and collect raw data from various sources.
  • Design and maintain Tableau dashboards to visualize key insights and provide training for effective use.
  • Transform raw data into a clean, structured format.
  • Integrate data from diverse sources, ensuring consistency and completeness.
  • Implement validation checks to ensure data accuracy and quality.
  • Develop and maintain scalable, modular workflows/pipelines for data tasks with clear documentation.

Person Specification

  • Strong numeric skills, including the ability to independently prepare data that can be used as evidence to support decisions
  • The ability to collect reporting requirements from a variety of stakeholders before producing data reports that meet the needs of the stakeholder
  • Advanced expertise in Excel and experience or working knowledge of data preparation tools like Alteryx, and/or Data Visualisation tools such as Tableau
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Strong attention to detail and can produce clear, replicable data reports
  • A good team player and are able to provide support to all colleagues
  • and proactively share your knowledge and expertise where necessary
  • Possess the ability to think in an innovative manner, work independently and think creatively to solve questions with answers driven by data.
  • Excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. This will enable you to communicate with a range of colleagues to showcase the strengths of data and the need to use it in decision making
  • You will be able to present data reports and dashboards to a wide variety of colleagues, clearly communicating and interpreting the data for non-technical stakeholders as well as other data experts
