Job Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will play a critical role in leveraging HR data to produce insightful, data-driven reports in Power BI, enabling both strategic and operational decisions across the organization. The role involves educating and training the business on utilizing data as an analytical tool, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with key stakeholders to drive business decisions. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights within HR data.
    • Develop comprehensive reports and visualizations using Power BI to communicate findings to stakeholders.
    • Ensure data quality and integrity, identifying and rectifying data issues as they arise.
    • Manipulate and integrate data from diverse HR sources, focusing on automating these processes where feasible.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to understand their challenges and identify opportunities for data-driven solutions.
    • Participate in regular sessions with business areas to ensure clear communication and alignment of BI objectives with business needs.
    • Provide subject matter expertise on key BI components and support training for BI users to transform data into actionable information.
  3. Project Management and Delivery:
    • Work within scrum teams to review timelines and deliverables, ensuring project goals are met within the specified timeframes.
    • Engage in the project management estimation process, ensuring accurate estimates and challenging unclear requirements.
    • Support testing for all BI development, ensuring solutions meet the business’s needs, including planning, designing, and executing user testing.
  4. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
    • Work with key stakeholders to research business problems and create models that enable informed decision-making.
    • Contribute to the development of business cases in support of process changes or IT projects.
    • Demonstrate a calm and positive approach to problem-solving in a highly changeable environment with multiple priorities.

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

Technical Skills:

  • BI & Analytics: Strong understanding of BI and analytics, particularly within HR data systems and processes.
  • Data Governance: Familiarity with data governance principles and their implementation.
  • Delivery Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Data Security: Understanding of data protection principles and new guidelines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Power BI, SQL Server, and data integration techniques.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced skills in handling, analysing, and generating insights from HR data.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
