Job Description

Continental Reinsurance is seeking a Junior Systems Analyst to join our Lagos office. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, testing, and implementing applications to enhance our reinsurance operations. You will ensure the optimal performance of our databases, manage client expectations, and support system integration and data standardization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and implement applications tailored to business needs.
  • Ensure the optimal performance of databases, including performing routine backups and recovery checks.
  • Standardize data across all applications.
  • Conduct system integration testing, validation, and implementation.
  • Investigate business complaints and develop recommendations for solutions where none are readily available.
  • Identify and seek technical assistance for problem resolution.
  • Manage client expectations regarding business applications and keep clients informed about issues and resolutions.
  • Ensure application design and re-modelling align with client needs.
  • Generate business reports using SAP Business Objects Universe, SAP Business Web Intelligence, and Crystal reporting tools.
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives based on user needs and business processes.
  • Document all system modifications.
  • Set up and configure server installations.
  • Assist in investigating and articulating problems.
  • Support efforts to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on new and emerging technologies.
  • Utilize Internet of Things, Business Analytics, Process Automation, and App Development to enhance business processes.

IT Skills:

  • Proficiency in writing complex and functional scripts across various languages.
  • Experience in setting up, managing, and restoring databases and database servers, especially MSQL servers.
  • Ability to create detailed business reports.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/O365 suite.

Education:

  • BSc in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum grade of 2:2 with 3 to 5 years of post-NYSC experience and Membership in a recognized IT/Computer association or society is preferred.
