The Role
The Business Analyst will be a key member of the Innovation Practice, responsible for coordinating and delivering business analysis activities across a range of complex, multi-disciplinary programmes. Working under the guidance of the Senior and Head of Business Analysis, the postholder will apply structured methodologies to define requirements, generate insights, and produce clear, evidence-based recommendations that strengthen decision-making and delivery outcomes.
The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure analytical consistency, effective stakeholder engagement, and the integration of business analysis practices across projects. The Business Analyst will support and contribute to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the ongoing development of Digital Catapult’s business analysis capability.
The position offers exposure to a wide range of programme themes, including technology innovation, ecosystem mapping, value proposition validation, commercial strategy development, pricing and financial modelling, market analysis and digital transformation, reflecting the diversity and impact of Digital Catapult’s innovation portfolio.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate and deliver business analysis activities across assigned programmes, ensuring work is completed to agreed standards, timelines, and quality expectations.
- Apply and help refine business analysis methodologies, including design thinking, lean startup, systems thinking, and market insight analysis, to inform project direction and decision-making.
- Support the continuous improvement of business analysis practices by contributing expertise, feedback, and documentation that enhance quality and consistency across projects.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate effective information flow, ensure alignment of requirements, and enable seamless integration of analytical outputs.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across government, industry, startups, and academia to strengthen collaboration and project delivery.
- Deliver actionable insights in areas such as ecosystem mapping, customer segmentation, value proposition design, commercial and pricing modelling, and go-to-market planning to support business growth and innovation outcomes.
- Track and report performance metrics for assigned projects, covering delivery progress, data quality, and participant satisfaction, and contribute to impact and learning reports.
- Identify risks and dependencies within assigned work, supporting mitigation efforts and ensuring compliance with governance, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Support wider organisational initiatives, including cross-team collaboration, staff development activities, and corporate projects, as part of Digital Catapult’s commitment to shared learning and excellence.
This role could be based out of Belfast, London, Gateshead or Bristol.
Requirements
- Proven experience in delivering business analysis within complex, multi-disciplinary programmes or projects.
- Strong analytical capability, with demonstrated experience in market insight analysis, commercial modelling, ecosystem dynamics/intelligence, commercial design, and pricing validation to inform strategy and delivery and mitigate risk.
- Practical understanding of business analysis/intelligence methodologies and tools (such as SQL, Excel, Power BI), with the ability to apply structured approaches and contribute to the optimisation of team delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, reporting, and collaboration skills, with the ability to gather requirements and communicate complex findings clearly and constructively.
- Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant field or qualified by experience. An advanced degree, an MBA, or a recognised innovation management qualification would be advantageous.
- Proactive, adaptable, and resilient with strong interpersonal skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
